Backstage Support Instructions:

Thank you for volunteering for the Arise Year-End Recital 2025!

CAREFULLY read below to find your dress code, instructions, and other important details. Then, send us an email to confirm you got it, or with any questions you may have.

- Your job will take place before, during, and after the show (or dress rehearsal).

- When you arrive, check in with Maryann or Noelle at the ticket table in front of the theatre doors to get your badge and instructions. Noelle will be wearing a badge labelled “Backstage Coordinator”; Maryann will be wearing a badge labelled “Lobby Coordinator”.

- Your job is to help the Arise staff backstage, and you will likely move around backstage wherever we need the most help. Your help will include:

  1. Helping make sure the students arrive with their hair and make-up ready for their dance/s. (Students should have their own hair supplies with them, so use their items when they have them. If they do not have their own supplies, Arise will provide hairspray, gel, pins, hair elastics, etc.)

  2. Helping the younger children (who are in more than one dance) change their costumes, their hairstyles, and touch up their makeup as needed. (The Arise staff will have a list of who needs their hair changed and when.)

  3. Helping the Grade 2 and Grade 3 students change back into their street clothes and hang up their costumes at the theatre.

  4. Helping hand out snacks.

  5. Keeping the kids calm and happy while they are backstage.

- Wear comfortable, modest clothing that you can move in, including good shoes, as you will likely spend a lot of time on your feet. It’s a good idea to wear layers as it can get hot backstage.

- In order to watch the recital, you will need to purchase a ticket to see the show you are not volunteering at. You cannot watch the show while you are filling this position.

- Stay backstage with the students for the duration of the show (or dress rehearsal).
