Grade 2 - Advanced Ballet Recital Schedule & Packing List

Students will be supervised by Arise staff and parent volunteers while at Sacred Heart.

This list includes all details needed for jazz, contemporary, and hip hop classes. Warm-up classes and times to change into costumes have been worked into the schedule. Students must arrive on time with recital hair and make-up done.

*If you are not staying to watch a show, please come into the theatre after the performance to pick up your student from the stage and sign him or her out.

Recital Weekend Schedule

Recital Weekend Packing List:

Before You Come To The Theatre:

  • Check your costume page to see your student’s costume list/s. Take careful note of anything marked as “Their Own” as these are items you need to make sure they have, wear, and/or bring with them.

  • Arise will have all of the rented or bought costumes at the theatre waiting for them to change into when they arrive.

  • Your student must come to the theatre with their hair and makeup already done. The costume list will include instructions for your student’s hair and make-up. We recommend practising before photo day. (If recital hair or make-up stresses you out, please contact us. We’ve got experienced and awesome dance moms who would be happy to have you over and give you a lesson.)

  • If your student is in multiple dances, their first dance is listed in their recital weekend schedule, so be sure to come with your hairstyle ready for your first dance.

  • Make sure your dancer eats a good meal before coming to the theatre, since even when we give them snacks, or time to eat while there, they are often too excited, distracted, and having a good time with their friends to eat much.

To Pack in Your Dance Bag:

  • Please clean out your dance bag and ensure that you only have the items listed below to save space backstage. If you can find/fit it in a smaller bag, please downsize.

  • A small water bottle that can seal tightly and will not leak

  • A small hair brush, hair spray, extra hairpins, and bobby pins for securing headpieces

  • Extra lipstick for touch-ups labelled with your student’s name and placed in a ziplock bag for safety

  • Correct dance shoes for each dance style they perform

  • Reference your costume page to make sure your dancer brings all parts of their costume that belong to them, including the correct class ballet suit and bike shorts, etc.

  • A second pair of ballet tights in case of a run or a hole

  • One non-messy, dry snack: e.g. fruit snacks, carrot sticks, plain granola bars, etc.

    • Saturday ONLY: Bring a bagged dinner to eat at the theatre in between the dress rehearsal and the show.

    • No yogurt, pudding, soup etc. which is messy/sticky and could stain a costume

    • No nuts or dairy (some of our students have severe allergies to those foods)

    • Notify the office if your dancer has a severe food allergy

Please do NOT bring extra clothes, shoes, food, books or anything else that is not on this list. Younger dancers get to sit in the audience and watch the parts of the show they aren’t dancing in, and while they are backstage they get a live feed of the show. They are supervised, happy, and entertained the whole time they are at the theater.
