Hallway Help & Class Attendant Instructions:
Thank you for volunteering for the Arise Year-End Recital 2026!
CAREFULLY read below to find your dress code, instructions, and other important details. Then, send us an email to confirm you got it, or with any questions you may have.
- Your job will take place before and during the show (or dress rehearsal).
- When you arrive, check in with Maryann or Noelle at the ticket table in front of the theatre doors to get your badge and instructions. Noelle will be wearing a badge labelled “Backstage Coordinator”; Maryann will be wearing a badge labelled “Lobby Coordinator”.
- You will have one job in the first half, and one job in the second half.
- Wear comfortable, modest clothing that you can move in, including good shoes as you will likely spend a lot of time on your feet.
- In the first half, you will help in the hallway with the Grade 2s and Grade 3s backstage.
- In the second half, you will help look after a class in the Greenroom.
Hallway Help Instructions:
You will be helping two teachers, Sarah Gilman and Sophie Lemaire.
Your job is to help look after the Grade 2s and Grade 3s in the first half of the show. Because they have so many dances so close together, they will wait in the hallway backstage instead of going all the way back to the greenroom between dances. You will help look after them in the hallway in between their dances.
Keep the dancers quiet and engaged while waiting for their song to be called. Please tell them your name and get to know their names.
The Grade 2s and 3s will have lots of dances and will need lots of help changing and getting ready in between dances.
You will help them switch their hair pieces and change their costumes.
Keep them organised, quiet, and on task.
- Class Attendant Instructions:
Your job is to look after a class of dancers while they wait backstage. Keep the dancers quiet and engaged while waiting for their song to be called. Please tell them your name and get to know their names.
Merry, an Arise teacher, will coordinate when the dancers need to be ready to perform on stage and another Arise staff member will bring them to the stage and then will bring them back to you afterwards.
Another volunteer will walk children to the bathrooms so you don’t need to leave your charges unattended.
Arise will provide water and clean, dry snacks for the younger students to eat backstage. Arise will also provide colouring pages and books for the youngest students. A live stream of the show will play on a projector for the students to watch when they aren't dancing.
The younger students will arrive and leave already dressed in their costumes, so you will not need to worry about helping them get changed. Older students can change themselves.
Be sure that all snacks are put away and the dancers have used the bathroom (if they need it) well before it’s their turn to dance.
- In order to watch the recital, you will need to purchase a ticket to see the show you are not volunteering at. You cannot watch the show while you are filling this position.
- Come dressed nicely, but comfortably, as you will be working with students throughout the show (or dress rehearsal).
- Let us know if you have any questions!
