Students will be supervised by Arise staff and parent volunteers while at Sacred Heart.
Students must arrive on time with recital hair and make-up done for their first dance and already in their costume. Please check your recital weekend schedule for what to wear and what hair your student needs for their first dance.
*If you are not staying to watch a show, please come into the theatre after the performance to pick up your student from the stage and sign him or her out.
Recital Weekend Schedule
Recital Weekend Packing List:
Before You Come To The Theatre:
Check your costume page to see your student’s costume list/s. Take careful note of anything marked as “Their Own” as these are items you need to make sure they have, wear, and/or bring with them.
Dress in full costumes as laid out on your costume page before coming to the theatre. If your costumes is a tee, be sure to bring something to wear on top when eating or if the a/c is cold. If your costume is a hoodie, be sure to wear something underneath so you can take it off when eating and if it’s hot.
Your student must come to the theatre with their hair and makeup already done. The costume list will include instructions for your student’s hair and make-up. We recommend practising before photo day. (If recital hair or make-up stresses you out, please contact us. We’ve got experienced and awesome dance moms who would be happy to have you over and give you a lesson.)
Make sure your dancer eats a good meal before coming to the theatre, since even when we give them snacks, or time to eat while there, they are often too excited, distracted, and having a good time with their friends to eat much.
To Pack in Your Dance Bag:
Please clean out your dance bag and ensure that you only have the items listed below to save space backstage. If you can find/fit it in a smaller bag, please downsize.
A small water bottle that can seal tightly and will not leak
A small hair brush, hair spray, extra hairpins, and bobby pins for securing headpieces
Extra lipstick for touch-ups labelled with your student’s name and placed in a ziplock bag for safety
One non-messy, dry snack: e.g. fruit snacks, carrot sticks, plain granola bars, etc.
Saturday ONLY: Bring a bagged dinner to eat at the theatre in between the dress rehearsal and the show.
No yogurt, pudding, soup etc. which is messy/sticky and could stain a costume
No nuts or dairy (some of our students have severe allergies to those foods)
Notify the office if your dancer has a severe food allergy
Please do NOT bring extra clothes, shoes, food, books or anything else that is not on this list. Younger dancers get to sit in the audience and watch the parts of the show they aren’t dancing in, and while they are backstage they get a live feed of the show. They are supervised, happy, and entertained the whole time they are at the theater.
