Illness & Incidents

If a student becomes ill during class and must go home, the teacher will advise Desk Staff to contact the child’s parents, and the student will sit behind the desk to wait for their parents.

If a student sustains an injury, the teacher will assess the seriousness of the injury:

    • In case of a medical emergency, contact 911 immediately and call the child’s parents, as soon as possible, afterward 911

    • In case of a serious, but non-emergency incident, notify the parents first and desk staff will contact parents for early pickup

    • If the injury is not severe enough to contact parents, the student may sit out for the remainder of the class or until they feel well enough to join back in. Notify parents upon pick up. A follow-up email will be sent.

Arise is equipped with a First Aid box with bandaids, gauze pads, tensor bandages, etc for minor wounds and injuries. There are also cold packs in the freezer. No medication (Advil/Tylenol) will be administered to students who are minors.

If an injury occurs, all staff/teachers involved in providing care should fill out an Incident Report.
